Richard Howland Hunt (1862-1931)
Richard Howland Hunt, Architect, of New York City
He was born in Paris and grew up in New York City, the son of one of the most prominent architects of the Gilded Age. He studied architecture at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris. On returning to New York City, he worked with his father and when his father died he formed Hunt & Hunt with his brother, Joseph, and together they continued to carry out work for their father's long list of influential clients. They were particularly noted for the mansions they built on Long Island, Tuxedo Park, and at Newport Rhode Island.
