Rev. William Smith (1727-1803)

D.D., 1st Provost of the College of Philadelphia (University of Pennsylvania)

He was a first cousin of Admiral Adam Duncan, R.N., 1st Viscount Duncan of Camperdown. He founded Washington College in Chestertown, Maryland, and St. John's College in Annapolis, Maryland. He also founded the Borough of Huntingdon, Pennsylvania, where he was a significant landowner.
