Rev. John Bartow (1672-1726)

Minister of St. Peter's Church, Westchester, New York

He was born near Crediton, Devon, and was educated at Christ's College, Cambridge, before becoming Vicar of Pampisford. He came to America in 1702 with the Society of the Propagation of the Gospel in Foreign Parts and founded St Peter’s Church, Westchester, New York. He married Helena, daughter of John Reid, Surveyor-General for East Jersey and sister-in-law of John Anderson, Acting Governor & President of the Council of New Jersey. They were the parents of ten children and were the grandparents of Mrs Aaron Burr.
