Mrs Rebecca (Brewton) Motte

In 1758, she married her husband. In 1775, when her brother and all his family were lost at sea, she inherited both the Miles Brewton House in Charleston and his plantation on the Congaree River, Mount Joseph. Her brother having been one of the wealthiest men in South Carolina, he was now very wealthy. She was the mother of three children. Her middle daughter, Frances, built the Middleton-Pinckney House
