Ralph Isaacs Ingersoll (1789-1872)

U.S. Congressman from Connecticut & U.S. Minister to the Russian Empire

He was named for his maternal grandfather. He was the son of the 9th Lieutenant-Governor of Connecticut and the father of the 47th Governor of Connecticut. He lived at 143 Elm Street (see image) which still stands today in New Haven, Connecticut. He married Margaret, daughter of Jan Cornelis van den Heuvel, Governor of Demerara, and they had seven children, six of whom lived to adulthood.
