Philo Ruggles (1765-1829)

Lawyer & Member of the State Assemblies of Connecticut & New York

He graduated from the Litchfield Law School and was admitted to the Bar in 1791. He practiced law in New Milford until 1804 when he removed first to Poughkeepsie, New York, and then New York City in 1825. He was elected to the Connecticut General Assembly four times and also represented Dutchess County in the New York State Assembly.
