Philadelphia Hannah Freame (1740-1826)

Philadelphia Hannah (Freame) Dawson, Viscountess Cremorne of Dawson's Grove

She was born in Philadelphia. Her mother was a daughter of William Penn, Founder of Pennsylvania, and her father was a nephew of John Freame, co-founder of Barclays Bank. She was Lady-in-Waiting to Queen Charlotte. She was the second wife of the notable Irish Quaker - and one of Ireland's largest landowners - Thomas Dawson of Dawson's Grove, Co. Monaghan. He was created Baron Dartrey (1770) and Viscount Cremorne (1785). They were the parents of two sons, both who predeceased them. Having lived at Dartrey in Ireland, they moved to England after the Act of Union in 1800 and lived between an estate at Stoke Poges in Buckinghamshire and their townhouse in London on Stanhope Street near to where Cremorne Gardens is named for them.
