Peter Harrison (1716-1775)
Peter Harrison, Architect, Father of Palladianism in America
He is regarded as the first professional architect in America and the father of Palladianism in America. In 1747, he designed the Redwood Library & Athenæum - America's oldest lending library in Newport, Rhode Island. In 1746, he married Elizabeth, daughter of Edward and Arabella (Williams) Pelham, of Newport.
