of 23 West 20th Street, N.Y.C., President of the National City Bank, New York
He was born in London, England, and was educated at Christ's Hospital south of Horsham in West Sussex before emigrating to New York City in 1835. He began his career as a clerk with Moses Taylor & Co., importers of Cuban sugar.
