Pauline (Ames) Plimpton (1901-1995)

Author; Mrs. Pauline (Ames) Plimpton

She graduated from Smith College and was on the boards of Planned Parenthood, the Institute for World Affairs and the Public Education Association. In later life she emerged as a successful author. Among the eight books she turned out over twelve years was one about her father: "Oakes Ames, Jottings of a Harvard Botanist," (1979); one about her husband: "The Plimpton Papers, Law and Diplomacy" (1985), and another about her father-in-law, a wide-ranging literary collector: "A Collector's Recollections, George Arthur Plimpton" (1992).
