Patrick Henry (1736-1799)

1st & 6th Governor of Virginia

He famously proclaimed to the Virginia House of Burgesses in 1775: "I know not what course others may take; but as for me, give me liberty or give me death." From 1771 to 1778, he lived on his plantation "Scotchtown" (see images) in Hanover County and was married twice, having a total of seventeen children, fifteen of whom (listed) survived infancy.
