Orson Adams (1835-1907)
Orson Adams, of Oak Hill, Maryland; President of the Commercial National Bank
He was born in Somerset County, Maryland. In 1858, he joined the Bank of Commerce in Baltimore and rose to become President, relocating to New York. He kept a summer house, Oak Hill, near his wife's native Baltimore and when it burned down he rebuilt it with 27-rooms. He later retired from banking and moved full time to Oak Hill, serving as a clerk of the circuit court in Baltimore before becoming a merchant and forming his own firm that imported wines, liquors, and cigars.
