Noah Simpson (1746-1791)

Major Noah Simpson, of Drogheda, Co. Meath

He was the youngest of the six sons of Edward Simpson of Mount Campbell, Co. Leitrim. He was a Major in the 31st Regiment and after retiring from the army settled at Boyle, Co. Roscommon. In 1782, he was married at "Belmont" near Quebec (the first home of Henry Caldwell) to Alicia, fourth daughter and co-heiress of Richard Sheffield Cassan. Cassan and Caldwell were brothers-in-law, both having married daughters of Alexander Hamilton M.P., of Knock, Co. Dublin. His daughter, Annabella, married her first cousin, Capt. George Bowen, R.N., grandson of Richard Sheffield Cassan.
