Nicholas William Stuyvesant (1648-1698)
Merchant & Alderman, of New York City
He was born in New Amsterdam. He followed various mercantile pursuits in connection with the management of his extensive estates. He also represented the Out Ward as Alderman for several years. He was married twice: (1) In 1672, Maria, daughter of William Beekman. They were the parents of one child. (2) Elizabeth Van Slicktenhorst of Albany by whom he had three children. He lived on the "Bowery".
