Nicholas William Stuyvesant (1648-1698)

Merchant & Alderman, of New York City

He was born in New Amsterdam. He followed various mercantile pursuits in connection with the management of his extensive estates. He also represented the Out Ward as Alderman for several years. He was married twice: (1) In 1672, Maria, daughter of William Beekman. They were the parents of two children (2) Elizabeth Van Slicktenhorst of Albany by whom he had six children. He lived on the "Bowery".
