Nicholas Biddle (1893-1977)
Brig.-Gen. Nicholas Biddle, of "Springhead" Noble, Montgomery Co., Pennsylvania
He was born at Brookline, Massachusetts. He was educated at Newton High School and Central High School before graduating from the Episcopal Academy of Philadelphia. He entered Princeton but left in his junior year "to enter business life". He was connected to the Insurance Company of North America until 1915 when he became associated with Hutchinson Rivinus & Co., of Philadelphia. He was a member of the 1st City Troop of Philadelphia and in 1916 (as well as during World War II) he was posted to the Mexican border. In 1915, at 1712 Spruce Street, Philadelphia, he married his first wife, Sarah, daughter of Joshua Bertram and Joanna (Wharton) Lippincott, of Philadelphia & "Melmar" Bethayres, Pennsylvania. They had two children. After she died, in 1968 he married Mrs Virginia (Carpenter) Hunter, of Philadelphia.
