Moreton Frewen (1853-1924)
(Hugh) Moreton Frewen M.P., "Mortal Ruin" of Brede Place, East Sussex
He became known in the family as "Mortal Ruin" for his aptitude for financial failure. He was the famously awful editor of Churchill’s first book, The Story of the Malakand Field Force. Their daughter, the sculptress and writer Clare Consuelo Frewen Sheridan (1885-1970) was, "the nearest thing to a sister that Winston ever had".
