Mrs Maude Spencer (Ledyard) Newbold

She was married in 1882 to Frederick Rhinelander Newbold, a first cousin of the author Edith Wharton. Having lived between New York City and "Fern Tor" near Poughkeepsie, they were divorced just ten years, without children. Maud moved to London to live with her elderly mother Mrs Matilda (Cass) Ledyard who left Maud $500,000 on her death in 1898. Maud returned to the States and died in Los Angeles.
