Matthew Wilks (1816-1899)

of Cruikston Park, Gait, Ontario; and, New York City

He was born in England and was married at New York in 1843. He died at the house he rebuilt from 1858, Cruickston Park in Ontario. He is buried at the Wilks family plot in Cheltenham, England. He was the father of seven children, at least two of whom were born at the Astor Mansion in Hellgate.
