Maria (Bowne) Osgood (1754-1813)

Mrs Maria (Bowne) Franklin, Osgood

Her great-granddaughter told the story of how as a pretty milkmaid on Long Island she attracted the attention of her first husband, Walter Franklin. He drove his buggy to her father's home, and "while the two were talking (Maria) came in to make tea for the city friend, with the romantic result that she 'made tea' for him ever after." She had three children by her first marriage and four by her second.
