She was interested in art and book collecting, owning one of the most valuable collections of rare books and manuscripts in the United States. After her husband died, she lived between Madison Avenue, New York, and "Penn Rhyn" (see images) a family place on the Delaware River in Bucks Co., Pennsylvania.
