Jonathan Meredith (1784-1872)

Attorney, of 43 Franklin Street, Baltimore, Maryland

He was born at Philadelphia, the younger brother of William Tuckey Meredith, President of Schuykill Bank. He graduated from the University of Pennsylvania and in 1805 was admitted to the Philadelphia Bar. He settled in Baltimore where he lived at 43 Franklin Street and was an Attorney and Counsel to the Catoctin & Antietam Iron Furnaces. In 1806, he married Hannah, a niece of George Salmon, 1st President of the Bank of Baltimore, and in whose house they resided until his death (1807). She was daughter of Dr. Moses or Dr. George Haslett. They had 7-children including Louisa, wife of Gardiner Greene Howland, Co-Founder of Pacific Mail Steamships Co.
