John Stewart Bryan (1871-1944)

Newspaper Owner & Publisher, of Richmond, Virginia

He was the publisher of the Richmond News Leader and the Times-Dispatch, and one the principal owners of the Chicago Daily Times and the Tampa Tribune. He was Vice-President of the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts; Chairman of the Board for Richmond Public Libraries; President of the Virgina Historical Society; and, President of William and Mary College. In 1903, he married Anne Eliza Tennant and they had 3-children. They lived at "Laburnum" (see images), the mansion built by his father in 1908.
