Dr. John Rutledge (1713-1750)

Dr. John Rutledge, of Charleston, South Carolina

He emigrated from County Tyrone to South Carolina with his brother, Andrew. He acquired two plantations and real estate in Charleston. In 1733, he married Sarah Hext and had seven children who lived to adulthood. He was the father of Governors John and Edward Rutledge, and the father-in-law of Governor John Mathews.
