John Ross Delafield (1875-1964)
Brigadier-General John Ross Delafield
He graduated from Harvard Law School (1899). Becoming an Attorney at New York he joined the firm of Strong & Cadwalader. He was a founding partner in several law firms including Delafield & Howe. He joined the National Guard and became a Colonel in the Ordnance Department of the United States Army. During World War I, he was Chairman of the War Department's Board of Contract Adjustment. He was an amateur genealogist and in 1945 privately printed Delafield: A Family History.
