John Redmond (1737-1815)
J.P., of 37 Charlemont Street, Dublin & Newtown House, Co. Wexford
He succeeded to Killygowan and lived between Newtown House, Co. Wexford (an estate of circa 1,800 acres) and 37 Charlemont Street, Dublin (pictured above, “his city mansion in which he died”). He was, “deservedly esteemed for his general philanthropy (and) universally and sincerely lamented by all”. He married Anne, daughter and co-heiress of John Walsingham Cooke, of Cookestown (also known as Sleanagrane), Co. Wexford. They were the parents of four sons and two daughters.
