John Peter DeWindt, of "Cedar Grove" Fishkill-on-the-Hudson, New York
He owned an estate of 2,000-acres and married Caroline, granddaughter of U.S. President John Adams. Their eldest daughter, Caroline, was first married to the famous landscape architect Andrew Jackson Downing.
