John Mitchell (1763-1847)
John Mitchell, Farmer & Miller, of Old Deer, Aberdeenshire
He operated the Mill of Fortrie at Ellon in Aberdeenshire. He was described as, "an industrious and prosperous farmer who had some knowledge of the common law and served as a kind of legal advisor for the district, as well as an arbitrator of neighborhood disputes". He married Margaret Lendrum and they were the parents of thirteen children. A young son, Alexander, went to America and became the wealthiest man in Wisconsin, building the Mitchell Mansion in Milwaukee.
