John McGill (1752-1834)
Captain The Hon. John McGill, M.P., Receiver-General of Upper Canada
He died without children and left his estate to his nephew, Peter McCutcheon, on the condition he changed his name to "McGill". Peter became President of the Bank of Montreal etc.
