John Maloney (1809-1888)
John Maloney, of Scranton, Pennsylvania
He was a native of Ballingarry, Co. Tiperrary. He married and had nine children. In 1849, during the Potato Famine, he and his wife emigrated to Scranton, Pennsylvania, to find work. Taking some children, they left their son, Martin, in the care of his grandmother. Once they were established in 1854, they sent money back to ship Martin over to join the rest of the family.
