John Gibbes (1733-1780)

John Gibbes, of Orange Grove & Fenwick Hall, South Carolina

He and his wife were keen horticulturalists. He was branded an "arch-rebel" by the British during the American Revolution. His home, Orange Grove (afterwards Lowndes Grove) was put to the torch and afterwards he bought Fenwick Hall. He died without issue.
