Col. John Cleves Symmes (1742-1814)

of Cleves, Ohio; Delegate to the Continental Congress from New Jersey

He was a delegate to the Continental Congress from New Jersey. Following the Revolution, he was granted over 1-million acres in Ohio. He was the father-in-law of William Henry Harrison (1773-1841), 9th President of the United States.
