Johannes Widener (1790-1876)

Brick Manufacturer, of Fairmont Avenue, Philadelphia

He started life shipping freight between Philadelphia and Pittsburgh. Later, he went into brick manufacturing at Philadelphia and lived at a house on Vine Street before moving to Fairmount Avenue. In March, 1811, he married Sarah Fulmer and they had nine children, including Peter who established the Widener family fortune.
