Jean Tonnelé (1768-1846)

"John Tonnele" emigrated from France to New York

He came from France and established a large glove store on Pearl Street. He afterwards entered the wool business with his son and son-in-law as Tonnele & Hall. In 1846, they were reckoned to be the most extensive wool dealers in the country and he died worth $500,000.
