James Logan (1674-1751)
Chief Justice of the Supreme Court & President of the Council of Pennsylvania
He built his home "Stenton" (see images) between 1723 and 1730 on an estate of 511-acres outside Philadelphia. Charles Follen McKim pronounced it to be the finest example of colonial architecture in the United States.
