James Lawrence (1821-1875)
Merchant, of 37 Beacon Street, Boston, Massachusetts
He bought 37 Beacon Street from Mrs Nancy (DeWolf) Homer for $70,000 in 1857, where he made his home. He remodelled it and made several alterations including moving the main entrance from the first floor to the basement. In 1882, he sold to A. Lawrence Winthrop and it was replaced by an apartment house in 1940.
