James Grant Forbes (1879-1955)
James Grant Forbes, of Paris & Château des Essarts, Saint Briac, Brittany
He was born in Shanghai, China, where his family were profitably involved in the opium trade. He was educated in England before graduating from Harvard. He returned to Europe with his wife and lived between England, Paris and the Château des Essarts at Saint Briac in Brittany. They had eleven children and were the grandparents of the former U.S. Secretary of State, John Forbes Kerry.
