James Davidson (1758-1808)

Dr James Davidson, M.D., Surgeon, of 1 Place du Marché, Quebec

He was born in Edinburgh, Scotland. In 1779, at Montreal, he married Jane, daughter of John Richardson (1715-1777), Commissary of the Garrison. In 1787, he was appointed Surgeon at Quebec and Staff Surgeon to the 84th Royal Highland Emigrants. In 1807, he was Surgeon to the Militia and on the Board of Examiners for Quebec. He lived at No. 1 Place du Marché (pictured) in the Lower Town and his sons-in-law included Sir John Caldwell 6th Bt., and Chief Justice Edward Bowen
