James Averell III (1789-1861)
Judge James Averell III, of Cooperstown, New York
He became involved with his father's store and tannery. He invested in the Otsego Cotton Manufactory and the Hope Manufactory. He was involved with the Ogdensburg Bank and in 1840 was appointed Judge of the Court of Common Pleas in St. Lawrence Co., New York
