J. Bruce Ismay (1862-1937)

of Sandheys, Liverpool; Chairman of the White Star Line & Titanic Survivor

He succeeded his father to become President of the White Star Line in 1899 and he survived the sinking of the Titanic in 1912. He lived between "Sandheys" Mossley Hill, Liverpool, and 15 Hill Street, London. He married Julia, daughter of George R. Schieffelin, of New York, and they were the parents of four children. Mrs Ismay survived her husband and died at her home, 3 Kensington Palace Gardens, London.
