Howard Gould (1871-1959)

Howard Gould, of New York

He was a yachtsman and a racing driver. When he died in 1959, his one-sixth share of his father's fortune had grown to $64.4 million, but after Federal and New York State taxes were paid, the fortune he left was reduced to $14.5 million. This was divided into 26-shares, mostly benefiting the grandchildren of his late brother, George, and late sister, Anna. He left $100,000 to the Jay Gould Reformed Church at Roxbury, next to his late sister's summer house, Kirkside.
