Henry Scarsbrook Langhorne (1790-1854)
of "Point of Honor" & Co-Owner, of the Lynchburg (Flour) Milling Co., Virginia
He co-owned the Langhorne Mills in Lynchburg and purchased "Point of Honor" (pictured) in 1828, which he renovated at about the same time. After his death, the house passed to his son, John S. Langhorne, who eldest son, Chiswell, lost his fortune during the Civil War but recovered to become a wealthy industrialist. John S. Langhorne's granddaughters included Mrs. Charles Dana Gibson (the original Gibson Girl), and Nancy Astor (the first woman elected to the British Parliament).
