Henry Lyman (1813-1897)

Wholesale & Retail Druggist, of "Thornhill" McTavish Street, Montreal

He built "Thornhill" (see images) on McTavish Street south of the McTavish Mansion circa 1860. After he died, it was occupied by his widow and then sons Col. H.H. LymanA.C. Lyman, and then his grandson Sydney Lyman. In 1941, Sydney sold it to M. Bertheau who demolished it and built the McTavish Apartments in its place. He and his wife had eight children, five of whom (listed) survived to adulthood.
