Henry Astor III (1830-1918)
Henry Astor III "The Black Sheep" of West Copake, New York
By marrying a farmer/gardener's daughter, his family (except for one of his sisters) turned their backs on him. But, by ordinary standards he was still incredibly wealthy and though he and his wife were unable to have children, he lived a long, happy life as a gentleman farmer at "Astorville" with the woman he loved, free of Astor family politics. Eight weeks after he died, so too did his wife.
