Harold Kingsmill (1874-1945)

Harold Kingsmill, President of the Cero de Pasco Copper Corporation

He was born at Walkerton, Ontario, and educated at Upper Canada College and the University of Toronto. He was a half-brother of Admiral Sir Charles Kingsmill R.N., who played a prominent role in establishing the Royal Canadian Navy. He entered the copper business and from 1910 to 1936 he lived in Lima, Peru. During that time he served as "skilful and forceful" Superintendent and General Manager of the Cero de Pasco Copper Corporation of which he was named President in 1938, when he moved to New York City. He was Chairman of the Home State Gold Mine in South Dakota and a director of American Metal Ltd., and the Grace National Bank of New York City. In 1938, he married the Mildred Adams, ex-wife of Elwood B. Hosmer of Montreal. He retired in 1942 and they lived between New York and Greenwich, Connecticut.
