Dr. Goldwin Smith (1823-1910)
of Toronto; Regius Professor of Modern History at Oxford
Educated at Eton and Magdalen College, Oxford. He was appointed Regius Professor of Modern History at Oxford. A family tragedy brought him to America and he was briefly Professor of English & Constitutional History at Cornell University before moving to Toronto. There, he met his wife and lived with her at The Grange.
