Gideon Howland (1734-1823)

Gideon Howland, Sr., of Round Hills, Massachusetts

He was a Quaker. He and his wife were the parents of seven sons and six daughters all of whom lived to adulthood and all but one married. All of his sons were connected with the merchant or whaling service as captains or managing owners. When he died in 1823, he left an estate valued at $8,120.35.
