George Suckley (1765-1846)
Hardware Manufacturer & President of the Greenwich Savings Bank, New York
He was born in England and was a devout Methodist. Becoming a hardware manufacturer in Sheffield, as a partner in the firm of Holy, Newbould, & Suckley, he went to New York (1784) to extend their business. He invested in property in New York, New Jersey, and Maryland, and served as the first President of the Greenwich Savings Bank (1833-1840) and Vice-President of the New York Colonial Society.
