George Longridge Esq of Sunderland (1723-1759)

George Longridge, second surviving son of Thomas and Jane Longridge, was baptised at Newburn 15th September 1723. He settled as a merchant at Sunderland, 'a prosperous ironmonger and fitter' where all his children were born and where he died 2nd March 1759 aged 35. He married at St.John's, Newcastle 17th April 1750 to Jane daughter and co-heir of Thomas Fletcher Esq, a merchant adventurer of Newcastle, and the owner of Rothbury Hall in Northumberland. George died intestate. and administration of his effects was granted 12th March 1759 to his widow Jane, who was buried beside him at Sunderland 24th February 1782. They had four sons, of whom only Thomas and Michael left issue.
