George Francis Opdyke (1840-1913)
G. Francis Opdyke, of Jamestown, Chautauqua County, New York
He was born at Clinton Place, Newark, New Jersey. In 1868, at New York City, he co-founded the bank of George Opdyke & Co. with his father and brothers that provided financing for railroads. In 1881, he married Ida Reed and in the same year he retired from banking and moved to Plainfield in Union County, New Jersey. In 1909, he moved for the benefit of his health to Jamestown where he died four years later. He and his wife were the parents of two children: Wilbur and Dorothea.
