George Bowen (1782-1848)
Captain George Bowen R.N., J.P., of Laurencetown House, Gilford, Co. Down
He "earned no little distinction for gallant conduct in H.M.'s frigate Apollo". He was married in 1819 to his first cousin, Annabella Harriet Simpson, maternal grand-daughter of Richard Sheffield Cassan. Her father, Noah Simpson, had married her mother at "Belmont" Quebec, the home of Henry Caldwell, George's great-uncle with whom his brother, (Chief Justice Edward Bowen) had gone to Quebec.
